Background Information:

Niamh is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked extensively with a range of individuals accessing inpatient and outpatient services through the NHS and private healthcare sector. She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). Niamh is also registered as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP).

Niamh completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leeds in 2004. Since this she has completed further training in various therapeutic models such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT); Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT); Eye-movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness.

Regardless of treatment modality Niamh places strong emphasis on establishing a good therapeutic relationship with individuals. She focuses on creating a safe and non-judgemental space to work collaboratively towards therapeutic goals and positive change. While Niamh will use her assessment of needs to guide and inform treatment, she will also be attentive to the style and preference of those she works with. Niamh is also integrative in her approach and may combine therapeutic models if this is likely to improve treatment outcomes.

In addition to providing therapeutic interventions Niamh also has specialist training in Clinical Supervision. She is available for supervision to both Clinical Psychologists and other healthcare professionals working within her specialist areas. Niamh also has experience of providing training to a range of professionals and can meet commissions of bespoke training packages.
