Background Information:

Janet is a highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapist registered within the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She graduated in 1997 and gained extensive experience within the NHS and private sector including 11 years as a senior clinician within a Leeds Primary Care Musculoskeletal Service. Janet has a special interest in working with clients who have long term physical and mental health problems. She is a member of the Physiotherapy Pain Association (PPA) and Chartered Physiotherapists in Mental Health (CPMH). Janet has completed several post graduate courses in the field of pain, mental health, eating disorders and trauma and is currently completing her SIRPA training. She is a highly experienced physiotherapy led pilates instructor.

As a clinician Janet understands what it means to live with a chronic health condition. Fundamental to her physiotherapy practice is the understanding that our physical and mental health are connected at many levels. She aims to meet all clients wherever they are in their journey, to understand difficulties and to help clients develop the resources as well as the physical ability they need to move forward. Janet recognises the importance of a holistic approach and often works alongside other clinicians in the Insight team using a shared care approach.

Janet is committed to professional development and participates in regular training and supervision within the Insight team and independently as a physiotherapist.

  • BSC (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • PGCert Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
  • Pilates Matwork 1,2 & 3 through APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute)
  • Pain courses including “Know pain” “Explain Pain” and “The Pain toolkit workshop”
  • Introduction to Motivational Interviewing (Sheffield Hallam University)
  • ACT (through APT, The Association of Psychological Therapies)
